One thing I do like to do is to set targets for myself after each kilometre. This ensures that I maintain a relentless pace throughout the workout and do not grow to be lazy at any point. I also prefer to steadily increase the stress in the final 5 kilometres, while still making an attempt to beat a sure time for each kilometre covered. This offers me a challenge and makes the entire thing loads less boring.
